HOW MUCH DOES CNC LASER CUTTING OR ROUTING COST?

The cost of CNC laser cutting or routing depends on several key factors, including:

1. Material

  • Different materials have varying costs. For instance, stainless steel is more expensive than other metals.
  • Thicker materials require more time and effort to cut, impacting the price.

2. Design Complexity

  • Intricate or complex designs require more setup time and cutting, which can increase the cost.

3. Quality of Design Files

  • To save on costs, providing us with cut-ready files is recommended. Otherwise, Laser Leaf can design laser cutting files for you.
  • Errors in supplied files, like overlapping or unformatted nodes, can incur additional charges.

4. Post-Cut Processing

  • Laser cutting may leave dross (solidified molten metal) or burrs (rough edges) on the back or bottom side of the material.  Post-cut processing may be necessary if a smooth finish is required on the back or bottom side of the material, which may affect pricing.

Laser Leaf can discuss your project with you, including design and other elements that will impact on cost.  Please contact us for a quote.

In addition to laser cutting, we also provide metal fabrication services, including milling, turning, TIG welding (steel, stainless steel, aluminium), and MIG welding (steel).

WHAT IS CNC FIBER LASER CUTTING?

CNC fiber laser cutting uses a high-power laser with a 1060nm wavelength focused through fiber optics to cut metals.

WHAT IS C02 LASER CUTTING?

CNC C02 laser cutting uses a 10,600nm wavelength laser, focused through mirrors, to cut and engrave non-metal materials like wood and acrylic.

WHAT IS CNC ROUTING?

CNC routing uses rotary tool bits of various sizes and shapes to mill, drill, cut and shape aluminium and non-metal materials like wood and acrylic.

WHAT DOES CNC MEAN?

CNC (Computer Numerical Control) refers to the automated control of machine tools (like lasers and routers) using a computer. This allows for high accuracy, repeatability, and precise control over machine operations. Our CNC machines maintain accuracy within 0.01-0.03mm.

WHAT IS A VECTOR FILE?

For CNC laser cutting and routing, vector files are essential. Vector files use mathematical points on a grid to define shapes, unlike raster images which use pixels. Common vector file formats include:

  • SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)
  • DXF (Drawing Exchange Format)
  • AI (Adobe Illustrator)
  • EPS (Encapsulated PostScript)

PDF (Portable Document Format) files may contain vectors, or may contain raster images.

Laser Leaf can design vector files, or convert your raster images into vector files, ensuring they are optimized for cutting.
